Cookies
The honest cookie page for this build is short, because the site stores nothing on your device. Its analytics runs cookieless with consent denied by default, no advertising runs at all, and that is why no cookie banner appears.
The short version
gr_int internal-visit flag, written only if you deliberately open a page with ?internal=1 appended. What a cookie rule requires
Under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, storing or reading information on your device needs your consent unless it is strictly necessary to provide the service you asked for. The Information Commissioner’s Office is the authority on how that applies in the UK.
What this site actually sets
Cookieless analytics. This site uses Google Analytics 4, provided by Google Ireland Ltd., under Consent Mode v2 with every storage signal DEFAULT-DENIED — for every visitor, in every country, with no regional exception. In that state Google Analytics sets no cookie, stores no identifier on your device and reads nothing from it: measurement is limited to cookieless, aggregated pings. Because no information about you is stored on your device on an ordinary visit, the PECR consent requirement is not triggered — which is why this site shows no cookie banner. Your IP address is processed by Google in delivering the request; see policies.google.com/privacy. The lawful basis for this aggregate audience measurement is legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f) UK GDPR).
No advertising. There is no advertising product on this build, no advertising script is loaded on any page, and there is no cross-site tracking.
Excluding our own visits. One read does take place, and it is named here rather than passed over in silence: on every page view our own measurement code checks whether the gr_int flag is present in your browser. That is our exclusion for internal visits, so that our test traffic does not end up in the figures. It is written only when a page is opened with ?internal=1 appended — as a cookie with a lifetime of one year, and additionally in local storage. Without that, nothing is written, and nothing on this site links to it. It holds a single flag and nothing about you, and it exists in a browser only if the reader put it there. You delete it by clearing this site’s data in your browser.
A consent framework that keeps it that way. The site carries the standard consent machinery, configured to deny by default for every visitor wherever they connect from, before any choice is made — and no choice is ever asked for, so the denied state is permanent here. It is what holds Google Analytics in its cookieless mode, and it guarantees that no tag can ever arrive ahead of the consent defaults.
Third parties
One: a page load requests the Google Analytics script from Google, which processes your IP address in serving it — under the default-denied configuration above it sets no cookie and stores no identifier. The fonts are served from this site rather than from a font network.
Changes
Measurement was added to this site in exactly the shape described above — cookieless, with nothing stored on your device on an ordinary visit — and this page changed with it. If advertising is ever added, or measurement ever starts setting cookies, this page changes first and a consent choice appears before anything else does. Last reviewed on 3 August 2026.
